Discover the Beautiful Whitewater Base of Chauvière Mill: Canoe-Kayak Activities for All Ages in Lavault-Sainte-Anne!

If the weather was capricious on Saturday September 23 in the morning, the sun decided to come out in the afternoon during the open days at the whitewater base of the Chauvière mill.

The Canoe-Kayak of the Montluçon Lavault Valley (CKVML) presented its activities free of charge. The club indeed offers slalom or downhill kayaking. The discipline is accessible to everyone, children and adults, girls and boys.

“You can do it from 8 or 9 years old, depending on your size. The only essential thing is to know how to swim. You can be 15 years old or 25 years old, you don’t get into one of our boats if you don’t know how to swim “

Dominique Moreno (president of the CKVML)

Good training for young people

The club has around eighty members. “We focus a lot on training young people. From a certain age, we lose them because they go to study in Clermont-Ferrand or other big cities.” Dominique Moreno highlights the high quality of the club’s whitewater base.

“We have a beautiful site. We do slalom here (at the base of rue du Cher Editor’s note). For the descent, we start from the Prat dam. When Parisian kayakers come here, they have a blast! They train on the Marne. It’s dead calm. They jokingly tell us that they have to wait for a barge to pass by to get waves!”

“We have already organized it this year but in the Sioule valley. The federation found that it was very well organized and it also appreciates the Lavault-Sainte-Anne site. We will leave from the Prat dam to arrive in below the footbridge. The site allows large passages, without being dangerous. There is no risk of breaking the boats. In short, everything you need”, summarizes the president of the CKVML.
