Discover all the locations of Game of Thrones in Spain | Television on Cadena SER

The public entity Bilbao Bizkaia Film Commission has recently confirmed that Muriola beach, in Barrika, will be one of the locations of the HBO fiction ‘Game of Thrones’ for the seventh season.

This confirmation it joins others such as San Juan de Gaztelugatxe (Bermeo), Zumaia (Gipuzkoa) or Santiponce among other. Thus, Spain becomes one of the best represented countries in medieval fantasy fiction. Do you want to discover where the filming of the new season will take place?

Andalusia and Euskadi, the best represented

Andalusia, with five locations and Euskadi, with three, they are the autonomous communities best represented in Game of Thrones.

Seville in particular has three locations. The first one is the Royal Alcazar of Seville, where the Martell family settled during the fifth season of Game of Thrones. From its fantastic gardens to its amazing interiors, the authentic Andalusian essence was captured in this location.

It was also shot in Osuna, specifically in its bullring. It was there that one of the most exciting images of the fifth season took place, in which Daenerys Targaryen rode on the back of her dragon to escape the war.

Throughout this seventh season, which will not reach the small season until next summer, it will also be shot in the town of Santiponce. There are the ruins of Itálica, where some of the scenes of the new season will be shot.

The following Andalusian location is in Almodóvar del Río, in Córdoba. This town has a spectacular castle that HBO has had its eye on for its new season. Finally, in La Alcabaza and in the Walls of Cerro de San Cristóbal, in Almería, the filming of Game of Thrones is also expected to take place.

With regard to the Basque Country, in addition to Muriola beach, located in Barrika, Game of Thrones has chosen the municipalities of Zumaia and San Juan de Gaztelugatxe, in Bermeo to film the images of its new season.

From Catalonia to Extremadura

The new season of Game of Thrones will also record in Catalonia. Specifically in the city ​​of Girona and in the Castle of Santa Florentina, a beautiful 11th century fortress.

Among other destinations, HBO has also chosen other corners such as Peñíscola, the Castle of Zafra, the Bárdenas Reales de Navarra and the city of Cáceres. Although at the moment it is not known in which regions it will be recorded, it is likely that the Puente de Alcántara or the Monastery of Santa María de Guadalupe have their own prominence.
