Many have argued that Ex-SCUT, especially in the interior, should have a lower value in order to contribute to the competitiveness of economic activity. The “so” promised discounts have been delayed, but finally there are news for 2021.

Ex-Scut with a maximum discount of 75% (in the case of electric and non-polluting vehicles)
Me and reduction of tolls on the A22, A23, A24 and A25 motorways (ie ex-scut), which comprise, respectively, the Algarve, Beira Interior, Interior Norte and Beira Litoral / Beira Alta concessions, will start in January, since the parties failed the part of the proposed amendment to the State Budget for 2021 (OE2021) that referred to July 1 the entry into force.
In today's vote and in relation to A22, A23, A24 and A25, a majority of deputies dictated the approval of the part of the proposal that attributes a 50% discount on the amount of the toll fee, applicable in each transaction. The reduction increases to 75% for electric and non-polluting vehicles.
The lead in the part of the measure that states that “the Government may still, if necessary, renegotiate contracts with the concessionaires of the aforementioned motorways until July 1, 2021, always safeguarding the interest of the State” was defeated by the combination of votes against PS, BE, PCP, PEV and Liberal Initiative.
The effects-taking part (July 1, 2021) was also rejected, which makes the discounts effective in January. The State Budget is finally approved.
