Disagreement in FDF board about future Agriculture Collective

The board of Farmers Defense Force (FDF) has a difference of opinion about how the organization continues with the Agriculture Collective. This is evident from reports from various board members on Wednesday. Danielle Hekman (treasurer and secretary) announces that she and several other board members have resigned.

FDF board member Jeroen van Maanen calls Mark van den Oever ‘the greatest danger to the FDF and the LC’ on the internet. He responds to a message from the FDF foreman in which he blames LTO, Agraction, NAJK and Network Thoroughly for blowing up the Agricultural Collective (LC).

“An undeniably insane action by Mark van den Oever, the greatest danger to FDF and the LC,” Van Maanen writes below the message. He also writes when it is time to ‘send another Mark away’.

Later the messages were removed and Van Maanen’s account was also blocked in the Facebook group by Van den Oever.

A little angry

Mark van den Oever responds when asked: ‘Jeroen was a bit angry this afternoon. He is still a board member of FDF. He has to know what Jeroen puts on Facebook, but it would be a shame if it hurts the club. ‘

Van Maanen is known as moderate. He acted as a spokesperson and negotiator. He sat several times on behalf of FDF with Trienke Elshof (LTO) and Aalt Dijkhuizen (LC chairman) at the table at Rutte and Schouten to discuss the nitrogen impasse. Van Maanen was not available for comment.

Stepped out

Danielle Hekman has since announced that she has left the board of FDF. She reports this in the WhatsApp group in the region. ‘There is no democracy within the board and Misha (Builder ed.) Has also been evicted without us knowing it. I support the position of Jeroen (Van Maanen ed.), The Agricultural College is sacred to me. Jeroen is now more or less out. We will make a statement later this week. “

The difference of opinion in the board of FDF probably has to do with the future of the Landbouw Collectief. FDF released a press statement tonight in which Van den Oever responds to statements from various other agricultural organizations that indicate that they want to continue to cooperate in a form other than the Landbouw Collectief. The FDF leader writes that he wants to continue as a fully-fledged collective.

New form of cooperation

The organizations that prefer a different form of cooperation over the formal setting in which the Agricultural Collective has operated in the past 6 months have discussed this this week. The search is now on for a new form of collaboration.

One and a half week ago, LTO initiated this by indicating that it wanted to continue working together, but in a different – more informal – form. Next week, a delegation from all 13 organizations will further discuss the future of the Agricultural Collective.

Chairmanship of the Agricultural Collective temporarily

Chairman Aalt Dijkhuizen also announced that he did not expect to be chairman of the collective for a long time. Dijkhuizen: ‘I have always experienced the chairmanship of the Agriculture Collective as temporary.’

According to him, the Presidency is increasingly difficult to combine with other activities, also because it takes much longer than he initially thought. ‘First see whether and, if so, how parties want to proceed. That is the most important. Then comes the question from the chairman. It is clear that this is a temporary job for me. “
