Dirty tactics deployed as Italy crowned European Champions

Roberto Mancini and his coaching staff are set to deploy dirty tactics to ensure that Italy are crowned European Champions for the second time in the tournament’s history.

Despite being one of the in-form sides with 10 wins from as many games in qualifying, Italy, who won the competition for the first time in 1968, are outsiders at 11/1 to win Euro 2020.

So, to help enhance Italy’s chances of winning the tournament, Mancini’s men are going to kick their opponents off the park — according to the latest Euro 2020 supercomputer study from bookmaker Casumo.

The Azzurri have gained somewhat of a reputation for playing dirty in the past and they are tipped to use that to their advantage this summer.

The Italians won the Euros in two separate simulations of the tournaments, and were crowned the dirtiest team on each occasion, averaging 107 fouls per tournament — that’s around 15 fouls per game!

The supercomputer also revealed that Gianluigi Donnarumma, Giovanni Di Lorenzo and Nicolò Barella are set to be Italy’s star men, with the goalkeeper, right-back and central midfielder all securing a place in the Euro 2020 Team of the Tournament.

Having won the Golden Boot in one of the sims, Lazio striker Ciro Immobile, who scored 20 Serie A goals this season, looks good value in the top scorer Euro 2020 odds at 22/1.

Number crunchers at the bookmakers ran simulations of the Euros using a unique statical model. Their series of complex calculations include: age, squads, fixtures, form and more.
