Preparations are underway for a new part of one of the most prominent Hollywood classics, “Dirty Dancing”, with the female lead role being assigned again to Jennifer Gray.
This comes 33 years after Jennifer Gray performed the character of Francis “Baby” Houseman in the famous cinematic work.
The original 1987 film opened the doors to glory for its heroine, Jennifer Gray, as a teenager who falls in love with the dance professor played by actor Patrick Swayze.
The film won an Oscar for his song “(If Head) The Time of My Life,” according to Agence France-Presse.
John Feltimer, CEO of the production company “Lines Gate”, announced that Jennifer Gray will perform in the new movie and take over its production.
“The action will be the kind of romantic and nostalgic films that fans of this series expect,” Feltimer said in a conference call.
Dirty Dancing, despite its modest budget, generated more than $ 210 million in revenue around the world.
A new version of it was set up in 2004, entitled “Dirty Dancing: Havana Knights,” with a story set in Cuba, but without Jennifer Gray’s participation.
John Feltimer joked that the new film project was “one of the worst kept secrets in Hollywood.”
The details of the script are still kept secret until now, while Jonathan Levine (director of “Warm Buddies”) will direct the work.
Main action hero Patrick Swayze died of pancreatic cancer in 2009 at the age of 57.
