The Russian Embassy in the United States demanded that Bloomberg refute the article on the coronavirus epidemic in Russia, which provides incorrect information about the number of hospital beds, the embassy said in a statement on Facebook.-

“We demand from Bloomberg refutation, apologies and respect for our own customers,” the embassy said.

The agency’s article provides a graph with a reference to the World Bank, from which it follows that in Russia there are only 3.8 hospital beds per thousand people, while in the countries of the Organization for Economic and Cooperation and Development (OECD) there are an average of 8.2 beds per 1 thousand of the population. At the same time, the original data from the World Bank website, cited by diplomats, are exactly the opposite: 8.2 in Russia versus 3.8 on average for the OECD according to 2013 data.-

The embassy accused Bloomberg of blatant lies in addition to “unfounded politicized charges.”

“The editors of Bloomberg sank to a blatant forgery and swapped graphics. Any reader can verify this independently by comparing the source,” the statement said.

Listing Russia’s problems on the basis of the schedule, the agency mentioned “inadequate funding, incomplete reforms, and the lack of medicines and equipment.”

“It turns out, in fact,” Bloomberg “listed the problems of the OECD countries,” diplomats said.

“Lying about our country is not able to defeat the coronavirus pandemic. Such” tricks “of pseudo-experts in Russia, which shape public opinion in the West about our country, have long become a sad reality. We are convinced that readers and viewers of the leading American media deserve to be verified, not deliberately distorted information, ”the embassy noted.

RIA Novosti does not yet have a comment from the Bloomberg agency.

Bloomberg scandal over COVID-19 mortality in Russia

Earlier, Bloomberg published an article claiming that in Russia, the counting of fatal cases of COVID-19 was allegedly incorrect. Initially, the material came out under the heading “Experts Want to Know Why the Coronavirus Did Not Kill More Russians”. After that, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, wrote on Facebook that such publications indicate that a misinformation campaign was being conducted in the West against Moscow.-

After that, Bloomberg’s article began to be called “Experts wonder why the coronavirus didn’t kill Russians anymore,” later the material was renamed again, now it is called “Experts wonder about Russian data on mortality from COVID-19.”

Coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 (pathogen COVID-19) was first detected in December last year in China. In early March, WHO recognized its outbreak as a pandemic. According to the organization, almost 4.7 million people are already infected in the world, more than 315 thousand patients have died.-

In Russia, 299 941 people have been diagnosed with coronavirus to date, of which 76 130 have recovered, 2837 patients have died
