Dimensity 1200 will be more powerful than Snapdragon 865

MediaTek is expected to announce a new chipset later this month, and while the official details haven’t been revealed much, some leaks have provided preliminary information on what to expect. Well, the latest leak has provided more information about the name of the chipset.

The name of the new chipset that will be introduced soon is Dimensity 1200. In more detail, Dimensity 1200 will be mass produced using 6nm technology. Yes! In a way, it is the first 6nm chipset designed by MediaTek.

Predictably, having a shift to a smaller node size will definitely bring about increased performance and efficiency. This was also revealed by a well-known informant from China, Digital Chat Station, who is also keen to provide leaks about the latest gadget technology.

The Digital Chat Station revealed in a post on Weibo that it had seen the specs sheet and from what it saw, it was a more powerful chipset than the Snapdragon 865. The increase in performance was said to be (in part) due to the higher frequency.

This indicates that the chipset has a higher clock speed than Snapdragon 865, which has a clock speed of 2.84 GHz. MediaTek also launched Dimensity 1000+ a few months ago and the chipset arrived with a clock speed of 2.6 GHz.

Previous leaks stated that the Dimensity 1200 will have one Cortex-A78 core with a 3.0 GHz clock speed which is paired with three Cortex-A78 cores with a clock speed of 2.6 GHz and four Cortex-A55 cores which have a clock speed of 2.0 GHz.

Another detail mentioned by the Digital Chat Station reveals that CPU performance is not the only improvement that MediaTek’s new chipset gets. He also mentioned an improved 5G modem and an improved Image Signal Processor (ISP) which will help the device take better photos.

So, which smartphone manufacturers will be interested in the Dimensity 1200? No doubt, the Dimenity series introduced by MediaTek has caught the attention of many smartphone manufacturers. It is estimated that Dimensity 1200 will be present in smart phones made by Vivo, OPPO, Realme and iQOO.
