Dijon pharmacies are not immune to stockouts

The flu vaccination campaign began on Tuesday, October 13. Since then, 60% of city pharmacists have indicated that their vaccine is out of stock. In total, they have sold more than 5 million in a week.

In Côte d’Or, the order of pharmacists of Burgundy will communicate the figures for the department this Thursday, October 22. But just by visiting pharmacists in Dijon, the national trend ofa break in delivery, not in production, is verified.

The fear of double contamination

Julia Walter works at the Republic pharmacy in Dijon: she has no more vaccines since the end of last week. For fear of the double coronavirus / flu infection and a shortage, at-risk patients have pounced on them.

So today, the pharmacist is forced to take reservations for the next delivery: “This year they all came in the early days, we sold an astronomical quantity of vaccines. In previous years it was not like that at all. So now we write down the names of the people concerned and we will call them back for the next delivery. “ scheduled for early November.

During the first week of the campaign, the Pharmacy of the Republic in Dijon sold 200 more vaccines than in 2019 at the same time.

The campaign is scheduled until January 31, however priority to vaccination is given to people who are at risk of contracting a severe form of influenza (people over 65 years of age, young carriers of chronic disease, pregnant women, people suffering from obesity etc) until November 30.

According to Public Health France, 3,700 people died of winter flu in 2019 in France.
