Digital tax agreement between United States, France, Italy, Spain, Austria and United Kingdom

PARIS (Reuters) – The United States on Thursday agreed to remove trade sanctions measures it had wielded against several countries that have decided to impose taxes on digital services, targeting in particular the American giants of the sector, announced the parties to the agreement.

Those retaliatory measures had been suspended by Joe Biden’s administration to give a chance to negotiations on global tax reform, which resulted in an international agreement this month.

“In support of this agreement, Austria, France, Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom and the United States today announced the terms of an agreement to transition taxes on digital services existing towards a new multilateral solution, “the French Ministry of Economy and Finance said in a statement.

This solution will be built through exchanges and “constructive dialogue”, he added.
