The game was interrupted in the 45th minute after the supporters presented another banner with the inscription “son of a bitch” and the portrait of Hopp in the crosshairs. The players were sent into the cabin by referee Bastian Dankert. Union captain Christopher Trimmel went to the block and talked to the fans’ leader.
The game had previously been interrupted for an announcement because fans had shown a banner directed against the DFB.
“Another action of this kind will stop the game,” said the stadium spokesman. “You are jeopardizing the success of our association. There is nothing to be gained in this way, I ask for your understanding.”
