No trip through the icy cold this time, but a (hopefully) sunny drive to the Flemish coast. Dieter Coppens (42) left this morning with Kevin, one of his first traveling companions Down the road, on a new adventure.

Sit still? That’s difficult for Dieter Coppens and his friend Kevin. In December they hitchhiked from Moscow to Belgium, in March they were still together in Finland for the fourth season of Down the road. And this morning, around 9 o’clock, they went out again. They both were very much looking forward to eating an ice cream. And the best ice creams can be found by the sea. So they jumped on a tandem and will cycle from Boutersem to the coast in the coming days. After Down the road in Down the snow they go now Down the sea.

Their journey can be followed live in the coming days via an interactive timeline on the social media and the website of Een. Later their journey will also be shown on television in short fragments. In the evening the duo hopes to set up their tent in the garden of warm Flanders. “Ringing the door to people asking for a place to stay remains exciting,” said Kevin. But with Dieter by my side I certainly dare to do that. ”
