DHF cases increase in Bandung, six people are reported to have died

DHF cases during January-May 2022 increased compared to last year’s 296 patients

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDUNG — Patients with dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) at the Bandung City Regional General Hospital, on Jalan Hospital Ujung Berung, during January-May 2022 reached 398 cases and six of them were reported dead. Case finding DBD This is an increase compared to last year with 296 patients and the number of patients who died three fatalities until the end of December.

Public Relations of the Bandung City Hospital, Chairudin Latupono, said that currently DHF is the highest case that often infects residents, followed by dysentery. “DHF is one of the cases that are quite high. From January to last May, we have recorded 398 cases that we have treated. Well, the rest, like dysentery, maybe because it’s raining, eating anything and other things, so it mostly happens to children,” he said at the Bandung City Hospital, Ujung Berung.

Outpatients are dominated by children, with data from January to May totaling 267, while adults totaling 131. The highest cases were found in January, which was 115 dengue cases and this year, the lowest cases were found in March with 45 cases of dengue fever. The man who is familiarly called Heri said that his party always routinely conducts counseling related to the increasing number of dengue cases.

“So, health promotion is very necessary for the community. We can’t come door to door to the area, so we do it in the hospital area,” he said.

“So every time he controls, he can see the information shared by friends at the hospital (hospital staff). Usually morning is equated with service hours at half past eight or eight to ten,” he added.

Although there was an increase compared to last year, he said that in the previous two years there could be data loss (loss of data) due to people who are reluctant to go to the hospital to check themselves. “Maybe the last two years were covered with Covid cases, but in 2019 and 2018 there were very high dengue cases,” added Heri.

He added that the case of patients who died could be caused by patients who were late for a check-up. “He can die if he is late to report, dengue is a virus. Why can it result in loss of life? That’s because the platelets in his blood are low, keep dropping until he loses consciousness, until he can die,” he explained.

Fogging, he said, is always applied by regional officials if they find a patient infected with dengue. “Both from the village or sub-district to the community in the complex or village. There is public awareness, if someone is exposed to DHF, it is usually reported to the local village apparatus so that spraying (fogging) is carried out,” he explained.

In addition, Heri appealed to the public to continue to pay attention to cleanliness, so that there is no stagnant water. “People have to take care of their health. Don’t let the garbage not be managed properly, because the Aedes aegypti mosquito, this elite mosquito, doesn’t want to be in a dirty sewer. I want it in a rainwater reservoir, in clean water,” he said.

If the child has been hot for more than three days, said Heri, parents should immediately take him to the doctor for lab tests and receive proper and proper treatment. “Hopefully we are given safety and given protection by Allah SWT,” he said.
