DHF Cases in Kulonprogo Soared, Health Office Recorded 116 Cases

KULONPROGO, iNews.id – Cases of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DBD) in Kulonprogo Regency in early 2022 was quite high, with findings of 116 cases. A total of 39 patients of whom underwent treatment at the hospital.

“Entering the second week of January, there were 116 cases, 39 of which were hospitalized,” said the Head of Disease Prevention and Control (P2P) public health Office (Dinkes) Kulonprogo, Rina Nuryati, Tuesday (18/1/2022).

This spike in cases began to appear in last December. Incidentally, we are currently in a transition period from rainy to dry which often becomes endemic mosquito aedes aegypti. The rainy season often affects the spike in cases.

Rina said 2022 is also a six-year cycle. Where in 2010 and 2016 cases of dengue fever in Kulonprogo were quite high. In 2010 there were 472 cases, while in 2016 there were 381 cases.

“This is a six-year cycle and has entered its sixth period,” he said.

The spike in cases at the beginning of the year was also relatively high compared to the previous 3 years. In 2019 there were only 194 cases of dengue fever without any deaths. Meanwhile, in 2020 there will be 316 cases with 3 deaths and 2021 there will be 213 cases with 6 deaths.

“The most cases are in Wates, Pengasih and Sentolo because the population is quite dense,” he said.
