DFL organizes “Bundesliga Home Challenge” e-sports tournament

Cologne –

Consolation for many fans in times of the Bundesliga break: At the “Bundesliga Home Challenge” football clubs of the 1st and 2nd Bundesliga will compete virtually in FIFA 20 from the weekend. As the DFL announced on Wednesday evening, a total of 26 teams will take part in the online tournament.

“Bundesliga Home Challenge”: Werder Bremen favorite

The teams consist of two players: a soccer professional and another person from the club. This is a clear advantage for Bundesliga clubs with an e-sports department.

The game is played in the 85 mode of the soccer simulation FIFA 20. This means that all players have the strength 85. No matter whether they have a better or worse value in normal play.

Werder Bremen in particular should be among the favorites at the DFL tournament: As the Bremen team announced on Twitter, their team will consist of professional kicker Maxi Eggestein (23) and the German individual champion, Michael “MegaBit” Bittner (21). He recently celebrated defending his title with Werder eSPORTS in the Virtual Bundesliga team championship (read more here).
