Düsseldorf In the second Bundesliga it was already known that FC Schalke 04 would open the 2021/2022 season on a Friday evening against Hamburger SV. Now the DFL has scheduled the other games on the first and second match day.
Fortuna Düsseldorf starts the new season on a Sunday afternoon: On July 25th, the team will be at SV Sandhausen at 1.30 p.m. The north derby between FC St. Pauli and Holstein Kiel will also take place at the same time. Bundesliga relegated Werder Bremen receives Hannover 96 the day before in the Saturday evening game at 8.30 p.m. On the second day of the match, Düsseldorf will host the top game on Saturday, July 31, starting at 8.30 p.m. Schalke 04 will then compete in Kiel on Sunday afternoon.
All games in the second division can be seen live on Sky. Sport1 also shows the duels on Saturday evening on free TV. Sat.1 will take over the opening game on July 23rd on free-to-air television. In the coming week, the DFL wants to schedule further match days of the second division at the exact same time. Then the first exact times for the first league will be published. The Bundesliga starts in mid-August.
