Cologne – The DFB Cup games the 2nd main round are (finally) certain! Three weeks later than planned, the round of the last 32 was drawn on Sunday evening. And that produced some interesting pairings again.

The former national player Inka Grings (42) drew the matches under the eyes of the draw manager and DFB Vice President Peter Frymuth (63).
The most exciting games definitely include Bayer 04 Leverkusen against Eintracht Frankfurt, VfB Stuttgart against SC Freiburg and KSV Holstein Kiel against FC Bayern Munich. Borussia Dortmund has to go to second division promoted Eintracht Braunschweig, RB Leipzig to FC Augsburg.

Instead of the German Football Museum in Dortmund, the drawing took place because of the Corona-Pandemie again in the Cologne Sportschau studio of ARD.
For the second round of the cup competition, in addition to 16 Bundesliga teams, eleven second, two third and three regional leagues qualified, with the latter five amateurs again enjoying home rights.
With Hertha BSC and Arminia Bielefeld, two first division clubs had already failed in the first round, plus the four second division clubs Hamburger SV, FC St. Pauli, 1. FC Heidenheim and FC Erzgebirge Aue.
Because of the week-long legal dispute over the notification of the Bavarian Football Association (BFV) of 1.FC Schweinfurt 05 instead of Türkgücü Munich for the 1st round and the delayed duel between Schweinfurt and FC Schalke 04 (1: 4, TAG24 reported) the games will not be drawn until this Sunday evening.
The second round of the cup will be played during Christmas week, on December 22nd and 23rd.
