The DFB Cup second round matches were drawn in Dortmund on 4 September: record-breaking Bayern Munich will face FC Augsburg away from home in the Bavarian duel. Borussia Dortmund must go to second division club Hannover 96.

Reigning RB Leipzig champion welcomes Hamburger SV and Stuttgarter Kickers meet Europa League winner Eintracht Frankfurt. There is also a derby between Eintracht Braunschweig and VfL Wolfsburg.

Union Berlin welcomes 1. FC Heidenheim

1. FC Union Berlin meet second division club 1. FC Heidenheim in the second round of the DFB Cup at An der Alten Försterei stadium. “Due to the numerous away matches in the coming weeks, we are very happy to play a home game,” Union Football Professional Football CEO Oliver Ruhnert said about the draw: “We still know Heidenheim well, they still have the same coach and are a top second division team. A good opponent on which we must be very focused. “

Heidenheim had beaten fourth division club FV Illertissen in the first round. Union Berlin went through to the second round with a 2: 1 in extra time against Chemnitzer FC. 1. FC Union are the only Berlin club left in the competition after Hertha BSC and FC Viktoria Berlin were eliminated in the first round.

The second round of the DFB Cup will be played on Tuesday and Wednesday (18/19 October).

Are cup matches broadcast on TV?

ARD, ZDF and Sky have secured the broadcasting rights for the 2022/2023 DFB Cup. DAZN and Sport1 can show clips of highlights in their programs. The two public broadcasters ARD and ZDF can broadcast a total of 15 matches live. This means there are two more games to watch on TV for free than before, including the two semi-finals and the cup final in Berlin. As in previous years, pay-TV broadcaster Sky will broadcast all 63 matches live and in full, from the first main round to the final, as well as in the original Sky conference.

On the digital platform of the DAZN streaming service, fans will be able to access cup match highlights from midnight on match day. Sport1 has secured the right to show clear game reports and clips from the day after the match in question.
