Therefore, according to Putri Maharani, parents and health workers need to try to minimize the negative impact during the care of babies with premature births through the Developmental Care method. “One thing that must be considered in developmental care is to keep the baby’s weight in optimal condition to support its growth and development,” said Putri in a written statement, Thursday, November 18, 2021.
Principle developmental care includes family involvement, minimizing stress, and optimizing breastfeeding or breast milk as the best nutrition for babies. Health workers must also monitor the condition of the baby regularly and provide special treatment to ensure the growth and development of premature babies.
Putri Maharani gave an example of the convenience factor. If premature babies feel comfortable, then their body’s metabolic processes improve, increase oxygen saturation, and maximize energy, so that they reach optimal health conditions more quickly. In this case, parents can build a strong bond or bonding time with the baby.
Another thing to note is child stimulation since early stage. “This is also one of the factors that affect the growth and development of premature newborns,” he said. Because, stimulation can stimulate connections between brain cells or synapses.
If parents often provide stimulation to premature babies, it can strengthen synaptic relationships. However, he continued, the provision of stimulation must be in line with the examination of early detection of growth and development by medical personnel.
