Developer XIII remake: ‘Game does not meet quality standards’

The XIII remake is not what many would have hoped for. The developer and publisher admit this in a new blog post.

Developer Playmagic and publisher Microids offer their excuses for the quality of XIII after the remake was strongly criticized.

XIII came out this week, after which players noticed an exceptional amount of bugs. It also criticizes changing the iconic graphic style, which appears more realistic than the cell-shaded style of the original.

Both companies cite the pandemic as the cause of the problems:

“First, we would like to apologize for the technical issues. As it stands, XIII does not meet our quality standards and we fully understand the frustrations.

The pandemic affected the game’s production on many levels. Switching to teleworking has caused unexpected setbacks in the schedule and testing process. “

Playmagic and Microids report that patches are being worked on that will improve the game in the coming weeks.

The game is available now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch and PC. The original XIII was released on PC, PlayStation 2, Xbox and GameCube in 2003 and was developed by Ubisoft Paris.
