Al-Marsad Newspaper: The Ministry of Islamic Affairs has arrested an imam of a mosque who works as an academic at a Saudi university, for exploiting the mosque’s facilities, converting them into rooms and renting them out to workers for profit.
The head of field missions in the areas of Islamic affairs, Suleiman Al-Zouman, said that the imam is an academic doctor and says that he is affiliated with this mosque and refuses to be an official employee of the ministry. According to Al-Ekhbariya channel.
He added: The imam converted the minaret into a room, and also part of the imam’s entrance was converted into rooms and rented to workers, and a property rented as a school for one of the communities.
And he continued: The imam says that he is a muhtaseb who does not want to apply for an official job, because he does not want all these mistakes and investments to be discovered.
