Detachment 88 Arrest 5 Terrorists from the NII Network in South Tangerang

Detachment 88 Anti-terror Police arrested five suspected terrorists in the South Tangerang (Tangsel) area, Banten. Known to suspected terrorist related to the Indonesian Islamic State (NII) network.

“We are delivering update regarding the arrest of a terrorist suspect in the South Tangerang area by Densus 88 investigators on Sunday, April 3 at approximately 7 o’clock,” said Karo Penmas at Police Headquarters Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan to reporters, Wednesday (6/4/2022).

Ramadhan said this arrest was the result of the development of terrorist arrests in West Sumatra (West Sumatra). He said Densus 88 was still investigating the role of each of the terrorist suspects.

“The arrests of five terrorist suspects who are members of the NII terrorist network. This is the result of the development of arrests that have been carried out some time ago in West Sumatra,” said Ramadhan.

“Furthermore, at this time an investigation and deepening of the roles and involvement of the suspect will be carried out. We will inform you later,” he continued.

Previously, Densus 88 arrested 16 terrorist suspects in the West Sumatra region. Dozens of suspected terrorists were arrested in two different areas.

A total of 12 of them were arrested in Dharmasraya Regency. Meanwhile, the rest were arrested in Tanah Datar Regency.
