Daniel Bevilacqua of his real name, had been hospitalized and admitted to intensive care on March 26 in a Parisian hospital, before being transferred to Brest.
“Christophe is gone. Despite the unfailing dedication of the medical staff, his forces have abandoned him, “his wife and daughter Lucie wrote in a statement sent to the AFP. “Today, words are cracking … and all long speeches are indeed futile,” they continue in this short text.
Bevilacqua never mentioned Covid-19 in her press releases and, when questioned by telephone by AFP, insisted on “emphysema”.
The Parisian had said at the time of Christophe’s hospitalization that he had tested positive for coronavirus, which the singer’s agent had not confirmed.
Christophe had enjoyed success from “Aline”, an instant hit in 1965. He had then continued to walk his dandy figure offbeat in French song.
The announcement of his hospitalization and then his transfer to Brest had moved the entertainmentworld on social networks.
Jean-Michel Jarre, who had written the texts for two of Christophe’s major albums – and their flagship tracks – “Les Paradis Perdus”, 1973 and “Les Mots bleus”, 1974, had thus tweeted: “Mon Christophe, Aujourd I’m telling you more than ever the blue words, Those that make people happy, A love story without words, No longer needs the protocol, And all the long futile speeches, Would tarnish the style somewhat, From our reunion From our reunion … “.
