Despite the health crisis, the Rouen CCI records business start-ups

Nine people gathered on Tuesday, September 22 at the Rouen Métropole Chamber of Commerce and Industry, gathered in a room around Francoise Thuillier. The project manager will, in two hours, outline the main stages of business creation. Because these nine participants have two points in common: an idea and the desire to get started. While some seem to be listening absent-mindedly, others, pen and notebook in hand, do not miss any information and regularly bounce back from the speaker’s words. This is the case of two young entrepreneurs who hope to quickly create their company.

Marie-Anne De Sousa, 25, is leading two projects simultaneously: the creation of a home for childminders (Mam) with three other nursery nurses and that of an e-commerce. Employed in a crèche, the young woman is looking for greater professional independence.

However, aware that the income generated by the future Mam will not be high, she chooses a second activity where she benefits from her experience as an Instagram influencer. It is for this project that she followed, Tuesday morning, this rapid training. ” I love fashion. I will offer boxes, for 15 to 20 €, containing clothing, makeup and an accessory. », she sums up.

The registration, she wants to obtain it within the week in order to be able to canvass suppliers as quickly as possible. A particularly rapid business creation since the idea of this additional income only emerged six months ago. Nevertheless, Marie-Anne De Sousa already has a precise vision of her business: “I want to offer quality products, even if it means paying more. I met a supplier of Italian brands, the products are really superb. “

Three years to prove yourself

For the moment, she wants to finance her business from her own funds, which she has been saving for several months: “I had already taken out a loan for my CAP, I don’t want to start over. “

By his side, Anissa Seka |, the youngest of this morning, wishes to formalize an activity already launched. Interested in cultural patronage, the young woman does not find herself, however, in the degree she began at the University of Rouen. “I decided to launch myself as a community manager on my own. I found a state diploma at € 8,000 a year. “ In view of the particularly high cost of training, the young, pragmatic woman decides, upstream, to carry out a market study. And, luckily, a lady who is launching a new line of handbags tells the young woman that she must “go to Facebook” to canvass customers. The young woman jumps on this golden opportunity to offer her services. And, for a year, she has been managing the store page. Other businesses have already wanted to use the talents of the young woman, still an employee of a bank. So two months ago, Anissa Seka decided to get started, without training: “I’m giving myself three years. “

The health crisis has undermined metropolitan businesses. But the chamber of commerce and industry has not, for the moment, recorded an increase in the number of closures.

On the contrary, between the beginning of June and September 7, the CCI recorded 234 closures against 260 in 2019.
« The mechanisms put in place by the State have worked rather well », indicates
VINCENT approves, President. On the other hand, the CCI teams fear the resumption of Urssaf direct debits in September and the establishment, before November 30, of deadlines for the repayment of the six months not collected.
« We will support businesses. They can negotiate. »

Another worry: the start of repayments of state loans, from March. Even if 30 to 40% of the companies that have received them have ultimately not touched them and will be able to pay them back at once. Others have the option of spreading maturities over one to five years. But « if, over one year, the cost is low, over five years it is likely to be higher. »

Conversely, the number of new registrations jumped: from the beginning of June to September 7, 871 companies were created, or 288 more, than over the same period, in 2019. « When the reception reopened, after confinement, we had a lot of people. We thought it was catching up, except we still have so many creators, Tell St. Vincent’s wishes. People have been thinking about their future during lockdown. Depending on their age group, some have decided to create their own business. We have high-level executives, Parisians, who have thought about the meaning they want to give to their life and who tell us that they are there if we have plans to create or take over businesses. »

Among the candidates for a new life, few unemployed,
« rather people who resign to get started. More than half are microenterprises, and this is likely to increase ».

Create a job

At the Chamber of Crafts and Crafts (CMA), Christophe Doré, the president, says he has not recorded any closures, but remains aware of the fragility of companies. “ Depending on the business, the situations vary. For example, the butchery trades are doing quite well. On the other hand, caterers are suffering. Those in the building industry benefit from the enthusiasm of confined people for improving their habitat. In contrast, as at the CCI, the CMA records “ a strong demand for business creation, in the spirit of “I create my own job, I want to create something with my own hands”. The candidates approach the chamber of craftsmanship as part of the internship prior to installation and support, to find out what aids are available … It is a growing phenomenon, highlighted by the digitization of work. and the use of digital during containment “. To see if the trend is confirmed.

To get started

Installation assistance

You don’t always think about it, but the CCI remains the first point of contact when you want to start a business.

As soon as you get your idea, a first meeting with the CCI can help launch the project. Every two weeks, “Want to get started” meetings allow you to outline the steps to be taken. Then, internships and personalized support, up to three years after the start of the activity, allow entrepreneurs to get off to a good start.

Financial aid

The Region can also offer assistance via the Coup de Pouce scheme.
