Designer creates AirCam, an Apple camera concept to compete with GoPro

A fan designer of Apple wondered what it would be like if his favorite brand decided to enter the action camera market to compete head-on with the GoPro. The result was the Apple AirCam, an unofficial conceptual design of what this camera might look like, straight from the imagination of Antonio De Rosa. Willing to really serve as an inspiration for the apple, De Rosa even created a small teaser for the AirCam, which you can see below:

For reference, the size we see of the camera imagined by the designer would be exactly the same as the official case for the AirPods Pro. In other words, it’s a very small size, so you can carry the camera everywhere, as with the GoPro.

As designers don’t need to worry too much about the truly practical possibility of incorporating technologies into the device when creating conceptual images, De Rosa imagines his AirCam offering Siri’s digital assistant, Face ID blocking system, up to 5K resolution and Lidar sensors . All this in a body protected against water and dust, with a certificate IP68.

We don’t have other details about the specifications in the designer’s description, but in the images we can also see the presence of the microSD card slot and the USB-C port, for recharging the camera or connecting it to the computer. More importantly, the presence of two screens, one on the smaller front and one on the larger back, draws attention.

The front screen can act like a clock most of the time, even incorporating different face options, as we can see in different images. But its main function would be as feedback for using the camera for selfies, filming yourself or even creating animojis.

De Rosa created his concept in different color options, which can serve as an interesting differentiator in relation to GoPro. The AirCam envisioned by the designer could be purchased in white, black, two different shades of blue, green and even pink.

Of course, all of this comes from the imagination of a talented Apple gadget enthusiast. But who knows, it might end up serving to inspire the apple to try to compete in this market too?
