Will it be the last duel for the time being?
The local duel between TSV 1860 and Türkgücü Munich kicks off at 2 p.m. A comment by Uli Kellner from Münchner Merkur on the city derby.
The Munich derby weeks in the 3rd division have become singular derby events. After the relegation of Bayern II and Haching, Türkgücü has to serve as the only local lion rival, once per half series. Although even insiders recognize the Derby status reluctantly at best. The former Türkgücü lion Aaron Berzel called the duel a “small city derby” – and 1860 himself would prefer to ignore the opponent, which was expressed before the season in the cancellation of a double interview that the coach had already promised.
So you don’t like each other – and so there is some explosiveness in the game when both teams duel this Saturday in front of empty seats in the Olympic Stadium. For the viewers, that much is certain, it would have been an attractive comparison. Which model will prevail? The lion’s concept of personal continuity, which also includes the coaching position and ensured a January transfer period that was quiet in both directions? Or will the Perlachers’ progressive hire-and-fire mentality prevail? With Andreas Heraf on the coaching bench, who comes from Austria with fresh impetus and, after four failed predecessors within a year, believes he can educate hot-blooded Türkgücü individualists to result football.
Türkgücü wants to prevent relegation – TSV 1860 Munich is still hoping for promotion
In Munich, white and blue has recently stood for careful development work, the Türkgücü red for constant alert, sporting and financial. And yet, despite everything that separates them, there is also something that unites the two city rivals: their dependence on a capricious financier. Money non-giver would have to Turkgucu currently called, because as reported, the Damocles sword of the point deduction hovers over the upstarts from the east of Munich. In Perlach it is important to avoid the crash, in Giesing to create another miracle of ascent. It cannot be ruled out that there will be no Munich third division derbies in the future.
