Deputy Prime Minister Ollongren is not a candidate for leadership D66 | NOW

Minister Kajsa Ollongren (Interior) is not participating in the race for D66 leadership this summer. She said that on a talk show on Thursday evening M.

“I don’t think it’s wise. It’s better if you choose one of the other candidates knowing there are very different good candidates,” said the Deputy Prime Minister.

The election for the leadership of D66 will take place this summer. Ollongren was often mentioned as a possible successor after Alexander Pechtold’s departure in October 2018.

Ollongren has been back as a minister since last month, after she left her position for six months due to illness. Last year she had an operation on her sinuses. That operation led to complications. Minister Raymond Knops (Interior), Stientje van Veldhoven (Infrastructure) and Minister Ank Bijleveld (Defense) took over tasks from her package. She was also re-appointed as Prime Minister earlier this month, after Minister Wouter Koolmees (Social Affairs) temporarily took up her duties there.

Rob Jetten is currently the chairman of D66. In any case, he replaced Pechtold on a temporary basis, but he is now also often mentioned as candidate party leader. Just like Sigrid Kaag, the current minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation.
