Deputy Minister of SOEs Says AP I Could Be Involved in Debt of IDR 38 T after the Pandemic

Ministry of SOEs reveals debt of airport operator PT Angkasa Pura I (Persero) or AP I could penetrate Rp38 trillion. stack debt comes from the low traffic at the airport managed during the pandemic covid-19.

“Indeed, AP I is currently under very heavy pressure, their current financial condition (debt) reaches IDR 35 trillion and if we rate loss their monthly payment is IDR 200 billion and after the pandemic the debt can reach IDR 38 trillion,” explained Deputy Minister of BUMN Kartika Wirjoatmodjo in a Working Meeting with Commission VI DPR RI, Thursday (2/12).

The man who is familiarly called Tiko explained that the company’s cash flow was also weighed down by the large number of new airports which after the inauguration were welcomed by the COVID-19 pandemic. Tiko gave the example of Yogyakarta Airport in Kulon Progo, which was built at a cost of Rp. 12 trillion but was empty of passengers.

Therefore, he said that the Ministry of SOEs is currently looking for a solution through debt restructuring and efficiency. It is hoped that the restructuring can be completed in January next year.

“This is a problem cashflow It’s very difficult, we are currently restructuring, hopefully we can finish it in January,” said Tiko.

Tiko made this statement in response to a request to postpone the rationalization of a number of security officers at the airport managed by AP I, I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, Bali.

The request was submitted by Member of Commission VI DPR I Nyoman Parta. He got a complaint from the group security airports that are in danger of losing their jobs.
