Deputies removed Lipovská from the ČT Council

“Mrs. Lipovská, a member of the board, has been promoting a strong political opinion in the public sphere since the beginning of her work on the Czech Television Council. She has already shown a large part of her activities before joining the Free Bloc political movement, when she held a position at the Institute of Freedom and Democracy, ”said Olga Sommerová (LES, for TOP 09) at the plenary, who pushed through the point at the plenary.

Lipovská’s appeal was not prevented even by the exit of the leader of the Free Bloc and the non-attached deputy Lubomír Volný, who had to be removed from the lectern and demolished the chairman’s table during the fight.

“Under the banner of the Institute, Ms. Lipovská opposes other public institutions,” she added. She cited as an example a letter addressed to the European Commission, in which Lipovská, together with others, questions the independence of ČT.

For the last straw, Sommerová described her current candidacy as the Free Bloc, whose candidate is led by Lipovská in the Pardubice Region.

Jana Bobošíková, the president of the mentioned institute, is also running for the group with her, she is the leader in Prague.

The appeal was also recommended last week by the House Electoral Committee, which has media coverage.

The Czech Television Act stipulates, inter alia, that a member of the board may not hold any position in political parties, political movements or civic associations, nor may act on their behalf or act on their behalf or for the benefit of other group interests.

However, the Free Bloc group, for which Lipovská is a candidate for the Chamber of Deputies, is defending Lipovská’s defense. According to him, he does not violate the law. Volný said on Monday that the attempt to dismiss her was aimed at ridding the television board of criticism from the CEO of Czech Television, Petr Dvořák.

Fighting with Dvořák

Lipovská has been a member of the ČT Council since last May. At the beginning of April this year, Lipovská accused the director of ČT Dvořák of a conflict of interest due to the fact that she owns a stake in Gopas, from which the television ordered the training.

Dvořák rejected the conflict of interest, for which he would be threatened with dismissal from the head of the television.

No shortcomings were then found by the CT Board of Supervisors. Dvořák later filed a criminal complaint against her, stating that he wanted to defend the good name of ČT and his reputation.

Lipovská was nominated to the council by the Czech Bishops’ Conference (ČBK).

However, its chairman, Jan Graubner, called on Lipovská to resign in May because, according to him, her work on the council gives the impression that she is defending the interests of some specific groups and people. Cardinal Dominik Duka, on the other hand, stood behind Lipovská.
