According to the VAB, traffic on the holiday route will arrive later this year, due to the health crisis. Peak attendance is expected around July 18.

“We go on holiday more by car but most Belgians who take the road will not do so before September (37%)”, underlines the mobility organization. Among those who leave during the summer months, one in four will start on July 18. It should therefore be the busiest weekend in Belgium but also in France, the French preferring to leave after the National Day of July 14.
In addition, the neighboring countries seem to have the odds this year, indicates the VAB, which notes an increase in sales of “Bip & Go” badges to pass tolls more quickly in France but also of the vignette for Germany. Those for Austria and Switzerland, useful for traveling to Italy, are less successful.
The VAB also plans two “black Saturdays” on the roads in France: August 1 and 8.
