Correspondent Rolien Créton:
There has never been a real lockdown in Denmark, like in the Netherlands. The Danes follow the rules and advice carefully. This has helped enormously in the fight against the pandemic. Moreover, people have had themselves tested a lot, which did not have to be imposed. And if they tested positive, they stayed home.
The country is also very efficiently organized. The government has been on the cautious side. For example, during the second wave, children were also at home for months, but there has never been a hard lockdown.
There is broad support among the population for the relaxations that are now being implemented. Danish experts are convinced that it is possible. There are still many infections, but the pressure on ICs has dropped.
