Denmark drops requirements for six nights for Norwegian tourists

The case is being updated.

It will no longer be a requirement for Norwegian tourists to spend six nights in Denmark to be allowed to cross the border, Denmark’s Justice Minister Nick Hekkerup said on Wednesday morning, according to news agency Ritzau.

– One of the things we will do, which we will announce later today, is that Norway is transitioning to being in the borderland model. This means that the six-day rule will no longer apply to persons residing in Norway, he says.

It is also stated that tourists from Skåne, Halland and Blekinge in Sweden, in addition to Schleswig-Holstein in Germany, are also exempt from the six-day requirement. However, tourists from the Swedish areas must be able to present a negative corona test which must not be more than 72 hours old.

According to Hekkerup, the Danish government has introduced the requirement for accommodation for six nights on the basis of a precautionary principle and to limit tourism – especially in Copenhagen.

He does not disclose the exact time when Norwegians are exempt from the requirement, but emphasizes on a general basis that the goal is to return to normal conditions as soon as possible.

The Danish government initially opened the border for Norway, Iceland and Germany from 15 June.
