Democrats add new evidence to charges against Trump NOW

Democrats in the US House of Representatives said on Tuesday that they would add new evidence to the official charges against US President Donald Trump before sending it to the Senate. The House is expected to vote on Wednesday to send the articles of impeachment to the Senate.

The new evidence would consist of telephone statements and other documents that would show that Trump has abused his power as president.

Trump is accused of pressuring Ukraine to investigate the Democratic presidential candidate and former vice president Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden.

The evidence is said to have been provided by Lev Parnas, a prominent businessman and acquaintance of Trumps personal attorney Rudy Giuliani.

Giuliani allegedly asked for an appointment in a letter to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

The late addition of the new evidence suggests that the Democrats wanted to better substantiate their case before the Senate trial. In recent weeks it remained unclear when the Democrats would send the articles of impeachment to the Senate.

Trump officially sued as the third American president

Last month, Trump became the third president in American history to be officially charged (impeached) in the House of Representatives. The charge must now be dealt with by the Senate.

Trump is expelled from a two-thirds majority in the Senate. However, even with the new evidence, the chance that this will happen is very small. In the US senate, Republicans are in the majority and in all likelihood they will continue to support the president.

The lawsuit in the US Senate is expected to begin next week and will last for several weeks.
