Democratic Bulgaria is preparing to be a driver for reforms in justice, e-government and environmental protection, and the option of its representatives not participating in the next government is hypothetical. This opinion was expressed to BTV by the co-chair of the political union Vladislav Panev.

“The option of not participating in the government is hypothetical. Democratic Bulgaria was created to be responsible for policies in certain sectors and we will hardly miss being drivers of reforms in justice, digitalisation and the environment,” he said.

He added, however, that this is a matter of a coalition agreement and a decision of the national councils of the parties in the union – “Yes, Bulgaria”, DSB and “Green Movement”. “We have perhaps the best experts in these three sectors, but that doesn’t mean anything,” Panev said. According to him, in the course of the negotiations between the potential participants in the next ruling coalition, there is no talk of a ratio in the representation of the individual parties in the executive branch. Asked about the 8-4-3-2 formula, launched by Rumen Gechev of the BSP last week, he replied: “I don’t think it will be relevant in the final composition of the government.”

In response to clarifying questions about the policies on which the parties differ the most, such as the construction of a new nuclear power plant, for example, Panev replied that a new financial and economic analysis will be assigned to show which option is profitable and which is not. , and a consensus text will be written in the coalition agreement. “The similarities are important, and we will analyze the differences in the future,” he added.
