She noted that in a survey conducted by Rimi last year on consumer habits in the Baltic States in Latvia, an average of 75% of respondents expressed the opinion that it is important for retailers to implement environmentally friendly solutions to reduce the impact on the environment.
According to Rimi, in the first four months of this year, the demand for paper bags has increased by almost 70% compared to the same period last year.
At the same time, the company’s data show that buyers are less and less choosing plastic bags. In the first quarter of this year, sales of plastic bags have decreased by 20% compared to the corresponding period of 2019.
It has already been reported that last year Rimi Latvia had a turnover of 917.2011 million euros, which is 2.6% more than a year earlier, but the profit decreased by 26.8% and was 33.16 million euros.
The company was registered in January 1992 and has a share capital of five million euros. The sole owner of the company is the Swedish company Rimi Baltic.
