Chihuahua.- The Autonomous University of Chihuahua reported that there has been an increase of 5 to 14 percent in the registration of applicants for Medicine, Nursing and Dentistry.

He stressed that the pandemic, far from discouraging students, has contributed to wanting to help others.

The academic director of the Autonomous University of Chihuahua, Herik Germán Valles Baca reported that applicants to enter the Faculty of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences increased 5 percent this year, going from 1,644 applications in 2019 to 1,729.

He indicated that these figures are relevant in the context of the current epidemiological contingency where the covid-19 has taken the lives of thousands of people, including health personnel who are on the front line of the battlefield.

The cards to enter the Faculty of Nursing and Nutriology went from 783 last year to 832 in this school year, which represents an increase of 6 percent.

One of the academic units with the highest increase in applicants in the August-December 2020 semester is the Faculty of Dentistry, which went from 468 in the same period last year to 535, that is, it increased 14 percent.

He added that it is important to note that the current pandemic, instead of discouraging students from choosing careers where they risk their lives to save the lives of others, has had an increase this year.

The rector of the UACh, Luis Alberto Fierro Ramírez has reiterated on several occasions that the University Renewal seeks that graduates be prepared to solve the problems of society, in accordance with the university motto “Fight to achieve, achieve to give”.
