On the final day, Gill, Pujara and the ball helped India win the toss. Score: Australia-369 & 294, India-336 & 329-7. Earlier, India had won the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne by eight wickets.

Despite not having any great players including Virat Kohli, Team India made history by battling injuries, racism and the Australian giants. This is Team India’s first win in Test history at Gabba. The fact that a team has beaten Australia after 32 years at the Gabba also adds to the Indian victory.

The start was broken but the guillotine

India, who started the last day with a score of 4-0, did not get off to a good start in the first session. With just three runs to go, Rohit Cummins put Tim Payne behind the wicket. Rohit has seven runs. After this, the Gill-Pujara pairing at the crease proceeded cautiously. Gill completed his second Test fifty off 90 balls. Gill made his debut on this tour.

But after half a century, spinner Nathan Lyon strategically knocked out Gill (91), who picked up the shot pitch and attacked. Steve Smith caught Gill on the first slip as he tried to defend the ball on the front foot, which came out of the off stump. Gill hit four fours and two sixes in his 146-ball innings. Gill and Pujara added 114 runs for the second wicket. Gill scored 259 runs in the series.

Rahane loses wicket

Ajinkya Rahane, who reached the crease after Gill’s return, got off to a good start but the innings did not last long. Pat Cummins’ shot went into the hands of Rahane Payne, who batted on the pitch. The Indian captain scored 24 off 22 balls. But Rishabh Pant, who was promoted to the crease in the fifth over, pushed India ahead with Pujara. Meanwhile, Rishabh has crossed the milestone of being the fastest Indian wicket-keeper to complete 1000 Test runs.

Pujara, who played slowly, smashed a boundary off 196 balls to complete his half-century. Lyon got the turn but could not capitalize. When India needed 100 runs, Pat Cummins gave a breakout in the second ball. Pujara (56 off 211 balls) was caught in the LB and out. With this, India is 228-4. 19.4 overs were left this time. In fact, Rishabh’s ball started all over the ground from there.

Finally, the Indian victory in football

Payne, who missed the chance to stump the Rishabh ball, had to pay a heavy price. Rishabh completed his half-century off 100 balls. India needed 69 runs in the last 15 overs. India trembled when Pat Cummins was shocked once again. Mayank Agarwal with nine runs in the hands of Wade. With this, India is on the defensive again. Washington (22) were bowled out for a reverse sweep with just 10 runs to go. The wicket was for Lyon.

Shardul Thakur (2) fell three runs short of victory to give India a shock start. However, in the next second ball, Hazlewood scored a boundary to give India a historic victory. With the ball (89 *), Saini (0 *) remained unbeaten.

Siraj’s five wickets to be remembered forever

Australia set a target of 328 for victory in the second innings. The Australians ended the second innings at 294, with Mohammad Siraj hitting the first five wickets in the Test innings. This excellence overcame the racism that was constantly encountered. Steve Smith scored 55 and David Warner 48. In addition to Siraj’s five, Shardul Thakur’s four and Washington Sunder’s one wicket kept Australia at bay.

Earlier in the first innings, Australia had a slim lead of 33 runs. Batting first, the hosts scored 369 off the fifth Test century by Marnus Labushein (108). Captain Tim Payne (50), Cameron Green (47) and Matthew Wade (45) were the standout performers. For India, Shardul Thakur and debutant T. Natarajan and Washington Sunder took three wickets each. Mohammad Siraj fired one.

Thakur and Sundar are heroes

Washington Sunder and Shardul Thakur put on 123 for the seventh wicket to take India to 336 in the first innings. At one point, India were 186 for six. But Sunder (62) and Thakur (67) came back for India. Their batting heroism was behind their three-wicket performance in bowling. Josh Hazlewood took five, Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins two and Nathan Lyon one.
