In Vietnam another ten people were killed on Tuesday in heavy rain and severe flooding. That brings the total death toll to 28. There are still 12 people missing and 17 workers are still being sought who may have ended up under the rubble of a hydroelectric power station under construction.

The dead include 22 people who were washed away by floods, three crew members who drowned at sea and three others who were electrocuted during clean-up works, a report by local authorities found.

Another 17 workers are missing and may have been buried under the debris of a hydroelectric power station under construction hit by a landslide. Rescue workers have tried to reach the plant by helicopter because the access roads are blocked.

The severe weather was caused by two tropical storms that mainly affected the central regions of Vietnam. More than 131,000 homes in the region were flooded.

Authorities have warned of a new storm ‘Nangka’ that is approaching and would go ashore on Wednesday.
