Kyiv

Death toll from missile attack Russia that hit the mall in Kremenchuk City, Ukraine middle, continues to grow. If previously there were 10, now the death toll from the missile attack has increased to 13 people.

“Today’s Russian attack on a shopping mall in Kremenchuk is one of the most daring terrorist acts in European history,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in an evening broadcast posted on Telegram.

Dmytro Lunin, governor of the Poltava region where Kremenchuk is located, said the death toll had risen from 10 to at least 13. While more than 40 other people were reported injured.

Earlier, Zelensky said more than a thousand civilians were in the mall when the missile hit the city of 220,000 people before the war.

“Mall is on fire, rescuers are putting out the fire. The number of victims is impossible to imagine,” Zelensky wrote on Facebook.

A video shared by the Ukrainian president shows the mall engulfed in flames with dozens of rescuers and a fire truck outside. Emergency services also published images showing the smoldering remains of the building with firefighters and rescue workers trying to clear the rubble.

Ukraine’s Defense Ministry said the attack was deliberately carried out to coincide with the mall’s busiest hour and caused the maximum casualty toll.

The Ukrainian Air Force said the mall was hit by a Kh-22 anti-ship missile fired from a Tu-22 bomber from the Kursk region in western Russia.

“Missile fire in Kremenchuk hit a very busy area that has no connection with hostilities,” Mayor Vitali Maletsky wrote on Facebook.
