Death of Russian exile in London was supposed to resemble suicide | NOW

The body of the Russian exile Nikolai Glushkov, murdered in London, has been left in such a way that it looked like suicide, writes the BBC. A dog leash was wrapped around his neck, next to the body was a kitchen ladder and there was another rope on the stairs, it appeared during a hearing on the judicial investigation into Glushkov’s death in 2018.

Glushkovs used to be the CEO of the national airline Aeroflot. He was also a friend of businessman Boris Berezovski. Around 2000 they had a falling out with Vladimir Putin, after which they fled to Great Britain. There they continued to criticize Putin.

Berezovski was released in March 2013 found dead on his estate near London. He was also found with a noose around his neck, but the actual cause of death has still not been clarified. Another friend, former spy Alexander Litvinenko, died in 2006 after poisoning.

Glushkov was found dead by his daughter in his London home on March 12, 2018. An initial investigation already showed that he had been strangled. According to the experts, he was attacked from behind and quickly eliminated. There were no signs of a prolonged struggle. Despite hearing 1,800 witnesses and viewing 2,200 hours of camera images, the police have so far made no arrests in the murder case and a motive has not yet been established.

On the day Glushkov was found dead, he should have appeared in a London court because Aeroflot charged him with fraud. A week earlier in southern England, the Russian ex-double agent Sergei Skripal and his daughter were poisoned with a nerve agent.
