The cause of Diego Armando Maradona’s death was “acute heart failure, in a patient with dilated cardiomyopathy”: this is what emerges from the preliminary results of the autopsy, reported by the Argentine newspaper Clarin. The insufficiency would have been generated by “acute pulmonary edema”. San Isidro Attorney General John Broyard said “there is no sign of violence”. The autopsy was performed between 7.30pm and 10pm local time at the San Fernando hospital.
