Laris Strunke was born in Riga in 1931, in the family of the well-known Latvian artist Niklāvs Strunke. The progress of life in Latvia was destroyed and destroyed by the occupation and the war, when the Strunke family went along with the others as refugees. Sweden became Lara Strunke’s future home.

Strunke was a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Arts, an officer of the Order of the Three Stars of the Republic of Latvia, IV, one of the most prominent Swedish artists. Since 1959, the artist has held solo exhibitions in various Swedish cities, as well as participated in many group exhibitions. His works are in museums and private collections, including the Latvian National Museum of Art, the Hungarian National Gallery in Budapest, and the Stockholm Museum of Modern Art. Lara Strunke’s paintings are characterized by large-scale abstract compositions, wide and strong areas of color, which create the illusion of spatiality in the plane.
