In the US state of Michigan, victims have been killed in a shooting at a school. A spokesman for the local sheriff said three people were killed and six injured. The perpetrator is said to be a 15-year-old who was in the second grade at the school. He has been arrested, authorities said.
The shooting happened early afternoon at Oxford High School in Oxford Township, a town of 22,000, about 30 miles north of Detroit. After the first calls to 911, police officers went to the school. There they were able to arrest the suspect. He was carrying a semi-automatic weapon with several cartridge holders.
The shooter’s motive is unknown.
The school was closed off from the outside world after the attack, so that police officers could search all the classrooms and other areas. Later, the students were taken to a nearby store, where they were picked up by their parents.
