Dead in attack on military parade in Yemen

At least nine people died in a rocket attack at a military parade in Yemen. Among the dead are three children, the authorities have announced. There are also at least twenty wounded.

The parade was in the south of the country. A separatist group, supported by the United Arab Emirates, held the parade for a group of new fighters on a football field. Many spectators were drawn to it.

According to journalists, there is a big hole in the field and several bodies are lying on the ground. The death toll may still increase.

Houthi rebels are probably behind the attack. The separatists and the Houthis have been fighting each other for years in southern Yemen. The southern separatists work together with the Saudi Arabian-led coalition that supports the internationally recognized Yemeni government.

The war in the country has already cost the lives of at least 100,000 people.
