Despite Operation Night Watch against drug violence, a facade in Deurne was shot at around 10 pm on Saturday evening, one hour before the action for the second night was to start. “We will adjust according to what we see”, Antwerp mayor Bart De Wever (N-VA) responds in an interview with ATV. Although he also says that the operation is “symptom control”.

The mayor also says that the Antwerp war on drugs is a success. “I can demonstrate that with the figures. Crime has dropped dramatically in Antwerp. De Wever also lashes out at drug users. They are “directly responsible for violence in our streets,” said the mayor.
