Day trips to the Baltic Sea: Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania locks children out

SchwerinDay tourists have been able to travel to Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania again since May 5th. Prerequisite: You are fully vaccinated or have received the first dose after recovery. Owners of second homes are also allowed to enter. Families with children are unlucky: They stay locked out. Because children have not yet received a vaccine, it is impossible for people under the age of 16 to enter the state in the long term.

Harry Glawe, CDU health minister of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, made this clear, as shown in a report in the Ostsee-Zeitung. Pankower Peter K. and his wife are also affected: The couple have a second home in Stralsund, have been vaccinated once, but have to leave their underage daughter at home. “We are victims of the Mecklenburg second home disaster,” says the 52-year-old.

Schleswig-Holstein opens restaurants and hotels

Pankow recently had a lower incidence than Western Pomerania-Rügen with 66.8. “You feel undesirable,” said the Pankower of the newspaper and hopes that the regulation will be rejected again.

Schleswig-Holstein, which is also popular with day tourists, will open restaurants and hotels from May 17th – subject to strict test and protection concepts. According to the state government, overnight guests must, among other things, present a negative corona test on arrival and repeat this regularly every 48 hours, unless they have already been vaccinated or have recovered.

The same applies to visits to restaurants that are also allowed to open inside with appropriate hygiene concepts. The usual contact rules also apply.
