Fought against addiction

“An episode I never thought I would have to record,” reads part of the description of the episode in a post on Instagram. There, the 45-year-old says that he has been fighting the addiction for a long time, after taking painkillers.

Eight years ago, he was in a motorcycle accident that led to injuries that required analgesic treatment. However, the medicine was given in controlled forms, both by the doctor and his wife, and should not have caused any problems in the first place, according to Good Morning America.

However, that was until August this year. The 45-year-old was then in a serious ATV accident, which led to a fracture in four ribs and one hand. Then the actor was prescribed a painkiller.

– An enormous secret

And this is where things should have gotten out of control for the actor. The pills were taken every day, often in a higher dose than recommended, and when he could not prescribe more pills, he obtained his own.

– I took large amounts every day, and I know it is an amount that will result in severe withdrawal. I was terrified, and I felt alone. I had a huge secret, he says, and adds that he should have tried to quit, without succeeding.

That was when he is said to have admitted it all to his wife, as well as the actress Monica Padman, with whom he has the podcast.

He describes the celebration of 16 years as sober as “the worst hour of his life”. The 45-year-old was in fact high on painkillers during the celebration.
