DavidsTea closes 124 branches | Radio-Canada.ca


The news was announced in a press release Thursday afternoon.

The Montreal company, who announced on Wednesday that he wanted to place himself under the protection of the courts under the Creditors Arrangement Act, will maintain approximately 100 stores in Canada, at least for the time being. Its 42 American businesses, however, will be permanently closed.

The DavidsTea stores across Canada all shut down on March 17 due to the COVID-19 epidemic. They will remain so until further notice, the company said on Thursday.

DavidsTea says 124 Canadian and US branches that will be closed were unprofitable. Lease cancellations will take effect in 30 days, the company said.
