Data from black boxes. Ukrainian plane shot down two missiles over Tehran in January in 25 seconds – ČT24 – Czech Television

Reuters reported on the new findings from the January tragedy, referring to the announcement of Iranian officials. This is the first official news about the contents of black boxes. Iran sent the data to France in mid-July for analysis, under pressure from Ukraine, Canada and other countries that had their citizens on board.

“The voices of the pilots from the cockpit 19 seconds after the first missile hit the plane indicate that the passengers were still alive. Twenty-five seconds after the first strike, the second missile hit the plane,” said the head of Iran’s civil aviation organization. At the same time, the local authorities call for the data obtained not to be politicized.

“A human error,” Iran explained after the tragedy

A Boeing 737-800 of Ukrainian Airlines was shot down on January 8, shortly after takeoff from Tehran Airport. All 176 people on board died. Three days later, Iran admitted that it had shot down the plane by mistake because it considered it an enemy missile. Most of the passengers were Iranians and Canadians, many of whom had dual citizenship.

“A human mistake in continuously checking the settings of the radar system led to a 107 degree error in the system, as a result of which it was no longer possible to correctly assess the trajectory of objects in its field,” said the Iranian Civil Aviation Organization (CAO) shortly after the incident.

According to the analysis, this initial error “stood at the beginning of a dangerous chain of events that could certainly have been managed if other measures had been taken.”

The incident provoked strong international responses, especially from the countries that had their citizens on board. “It’s a national tragedy, all Canadians are mourning together. We will continue to work with our partners around the world to ensure a full and thorough investigation. The Canadian government expects full cooperation from the Iranian authorities, “said Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in January.

Five countries eventually came up with a very specific event. The foreign ministers of Canada, Ukraine, Great Britain, Sweden and Afghanistan called for the independent prosecution of those responsible for the tragedy of the Ukrainian machine. At the same time, they are demanding transparent investigations from Iran, as well as compensation for the families of the victims.
