Darts World Cup: Michael van Gerwen throws out hoppers Labanauskas – darts

As expected, world number one Michael van Gerwen (30) has reached the semi-finals at the Darts World Cup in London and is still on course for his fourth world title.

Van Gerwen beat Lithuanian outsider Darius Labanauskas 5-2 on Sunday evening and now faces up-and-coming Englishman Nathan Aspinall on Monday (from 8pm / Sport1 and DAZN). Labanauskas was the surprise man of the tournament and beat Germany’s number one Max Hopp in round three with 4: 2.

Ex-rugby professional Gerwyn Price (34 / Wales) also mastered his quarter-final hurdle confidently. He beat English BDO world champion Glen Durrant (49) clearly with a strong performance 5: 1. This means that the dream final between van Gerwen and Price, who will meet Peter Wright (49 / Scotland) in the semifinals, is still possible.

After the semi-finals on Monday (best-of-11 sets), the final will take place in the “Ally Pally” on New Year’s Day (9pm).
